Week 3: Snipers + Mitts

We are now in Week 4 of the 5000 Shot Challenge and are well on our way to harder, more accurate shots.  Thirty-five (35) shooters have turned in tracking sheets -- are you being outworked?  Remember Reason #5: because somewhere out there someone is working harder than you. Don't be outworked! Grab your stick and start shooting!

Sniper of the Week

Week 2: Changing the Angle of Your Shot

Greetings 5000 Shot Challengers!  By now you should be finishing your Week 2 shooting and getting ready for Weeks 3-6.  Be sure you are logging your shots!  Has your shot been getting stronger? More accurate?  Play any fun shooting games? Tell us about it!  We may profile you on our blog!

Here is this week's shooting tip from High End Hockey (www.highendhockey) which focuses on changing the angle of your shot.  You'd use this when you have an opposing player in front of you -- use them to screen your shot.  

Remember...you miss 100% of the shots you don't take!

Ready....Set....SHOOT! 2015 5000 Shot Challenge Kicks Off

Under bright blue skies TSR's 3rd Annual 5000 Shot Challenge kicked off with sponsors High End Hockey and Shoot to Score on hand to help young shooters. Also sponsored by Bauer Hockey, the program encourages players of all ages to keep their hockey skills sharp during the off-season by shooting 5000 pucks over the course of 10 weeks. 

With instruction from HEH and STS today, young shooters were given free tips at TSR's Salem store.  The kids had a blast destroying things like a pinata (complete with candy, of course), a water heater, and a large screen tv.  Even the strongest shooters at the event couldn't make a dent in an old computer monitor.  While getting a harder, more accurate shot is the goal of the 10-week program, learning to commit to -- and complete -- a goal is a life lesson for any player.

Shooting to Win!

With less than two weeks to go, more 5000 Shot Challengers completed their shot requirements and have their names entered to win some fantastic prizes.  Challenge sponsors, Bauer and Shoot to Score Shooting Academy, have rustled up rewards like new sticks, shooting lessons, shooting camps, and more!  Congrats to Ethan G. (5,750), Brendan G. (5,750), and Teddy C. (5,465) for completing their 5000 shots.  Teddy C. even used this fantastic goalie to make his sniping practice more realistic!  Great job, boys!

 

 

  

Thursday, August 7th:

Two More Weeks of Shooting Remain

Many of you are close to completing this year's 5000 Shot Challenge -- keep it going!  There are two more weeks of shooting time and, as of right now, NO GIRLS have completed the Challenge and only a couple boys from each age group have done so.  The odds are great that you could win a new Bauer stick (value: $250), shooting lessons, shooting camp, etc.  Get your shots done and your signed sheets in!! Let us know if you need any of the tracking sheets.

Last, there are only two weeks to go in the 5000 Shot Challenge...time is ticking.  Shooting deadline: AUGUST 23rd.  Your sheets are due by 9/2/14 via email (juliedalton@tsrhockey.com) or by dropping them off at any of our locations.  Winners will be announced on September 5th.  Email juliedalton@tsrhockey.com if you have any questions.
